My Roland Berger experience has validated my passion for management consulting. While being a Computer Science undergraduate doing an internship scheme at Roland Berger, I felt the need to pursue this interest forward, which led to my enrolment in my current master’s programme. Time after time, the steep learning curve and dynamic environment of consultancy have pushed me to stay resilient and curious while striving for the best version of myself and grasping how to manage complex issues in creative ways. During my most challenging case, I had to assist my part-time senior project manager by overseeing both a key client’s expectations and the newly hired senior team members. Thus, I had the opportunity of refining my client expectations management, teamwork and leadership skills. Moreover, I had the chance to enhance my time management skills while being in charge of the project’s work streams and deliverables for the client, managing my university workload and keeping extracurricular commitments, which at the time implied volunteering with the Save the Children organisation.

Work Experience
Consulting Analyst Intern
Roland Berger
Romania, Bucharest
- Supported consultants (3 projects) in developing client measures through extensive market research, data analysis and other day-to-day tasks
- Appointed in charge of marketing and product positioning streams during a project for a Romanian construction market leader; identified strategies for 5 percentage point profit margin increase; overall profit boost of the project assessed at EUR 90 millions
- Designed an Excel macro model and later worked with IT on an Access database in order to efficiently track client progress during the implementation stage
- Analysed, through both extensive research and mystery shopping, the operations of a Romanian retail market leader in comparison to its national and international competitors; derived industries’ best practices and developed strategic measures for the client to maintain itself as a top player
- Assisted a senior project manager on evaluating new market entry and M&A acquisition targets for global client; key tasks included managing one of the project streams, overseeing teammates’ work (1 analyst and 1 junior consultant), interacting with the client and delivering final presentation decks
- Managed the company’s LinkedIn marketing presence by designing and documenting posts on recycling topics, one of the core competency areas of the office
- Initiated and organised a company campus event attended by 200+ students, increasing the company’s awareness to students and materialised in 5+ new analyst applications
- Selected to join senior colleagues in presenting and judging a student campus case study challenge

Jogging
With all the rushing and stress that adds up in once life, I truly believe running is the best way to detach from the rest and spend some time alone - with yourself. One gets so talkative 5 kilometers into their run. Here's a Casey Neistat short on the above, probably saying it better.
